Sorrento House
Mornington Peninsula
2007
Status : Under Construction
This current project for a retiring couple in Sorrento is sited on a sensitive coastal
dune covered in moonah trees. Complex resolution of the plan overcame difficult
planning issues of tree removal, limited building height and excavation while attaining
view, maximised direct sunlight to a lap pool and deck area and large carparking
and access zones within a restrictive building envelope.
The compact form relies on a simple articulation shift between floors rather than
a spread, horizontally articulated building, while internally, the double height
entry volume stretches through the house, connecting upper living spaces to lower
zones. This ensures the reduction of external form is countered internally. |
